Earlier this year, we launched several important features aimed at making it easier to find great applications on Android Market on the Web. Today, we're very excited to launch a completely redesigned Android Market client that brings these and other features to phones.

The new Market client is designed to better showcase top apps and games, engage users with an improved UI, and provide a quicker path to downloading or purchasing your products. For developers, the new Android Market client means more opportunities for your products to be merchandised and purchased.

In the home screen, we've created a new promotional page that highlights top content. This page is tiled with colorful graphics that provide instant access to featured apps and games. The page also lets users find their favorite books and movies, which will help drive even more return visits to Market.

To make it fun and easy for users to explore fresh content, we've added our app lists right to the Apps and Games home pages. Users can now quickly flip through these lists by swiping right or left, checking out what other people are downloading in the Top Paid, Top Free, Top Grossing, Top New Paid, Top New Free, and Trending lists. To keep the lists fresh and relevant, we've made them country-specific for many of the top countries.

To help you convert visitors to customers, we’ve made significant changes to the app details page. We've moved the app name and price into a compact action bar at the top of the page, so that users can quickly download or purchase your app. Directly below, users can flip through screen shots by swiping right or left, or scroll down to read your app's description, what's new, reviews, and more. To help you promote your product more effectively, the page now also includes a thumbnail link to your product video which is displayed at full screen when in landscape orientation.

Bagi mereka yang belum mendapatkan undangan dan menunggu untuk diundang, sayangnya undangan Google+ ditangguhkan kemarin siang karena permintaan yang membludak. Sepertinya ini menjadi cara khas Google dalam menciptakan, memelihara, dan memperpanjang kehebohan setelah peluncuran produk mereka, karena jika ada perusahaan yang sangat mahir tentang scaling, ituadalah Google.

Walau begitu, masih ada cara untuk mendapatkan undangan Google+ tanpa ‘benar-benar diundang’, yaitu melalui email.

Ketika Anda berbagi posting di Google+ Anda harus menentukan penerima sebelum posting dibagikan. Anda dapat memilih lingkaran tertentu dari kontak yang Anda miliki atau berbagi ke alamat email penerima yang Anda inginkan. Tentunya penerima email harus sudah memiliki akun Google/Gmail jika mereka ingin mencoba Google+, akun Google Apps tampaknya tidak bekerja dengan Google +. Google Plus Akan Menjadi Rival Facebook

Raksasa Google baru saja meluncurkan Google+ (Google Plus), Rabu (29/6/2011) yang merupakan layanan jejaring sosial baru. Layanan tersebut ditengarai bakal menjadi pesaing kuat bagi Facebook.

Jejaring sosial milik Google ini membuka ruang bagi para penggunanya untuk membagi foto, pesan, dan komentar seperti layaknya di Facebook. Google juga menambahkan layanan peta dan images dalam Google+ ini.

Google pun mengklaim, jejaring sosialnya ini akan memudahkan orang untuk mengatur kontak tanpa membuat grup. Namun, beberapa analis teknologi informasi berpendapat, Google+ hanya mereproduksi fitur dari Facebook, dengan hanya menambahkan fungsi video chat.

Sebelumnya, Google juga telah melempar produk baru seperti Google Wave dan Google Buzz yang ternyata tak laku di pasaran. Namun, dengan produk anyarnya ini, Google tak mau gagal lagi. Manajemen menawarkan sedikitnya empat fitur yang menjadi andalan mereka :

1. Circles. Fungsi ini bisa digunakan untuk memasukkan nama-nama teman ke dalam grup dan pengguna bisa berbagi konten dengan format berbeda di dalam lingkaran pertemanan ini.
2. Hangouts. Ini adalah layanan conference lebih dari dua orang dengan video call.
3. Huddle. Layanan ini menyediakan grup-grup di jejaring ini untuk mengirim pesan instan.
4. Sparks. Fitur ini menghubungkan individu dalam jaringan ini kepada orang-orang yang memiliki ketertarikan yang sama terhadap suatu hal.

Saat ini versi Google+ baru bisa dinikmati oleh segelintir pengguna dan hanya bisa dinikmati lewat undangan dari pengguna yang sudah terdaftar. Tapi, Google berjanji secepatnya jejaring sosial ini bisa segera dinikmati oleh jutaan pengakses Google setiap harinya.

"Jejaring sosial seperti ini memerlukan pemikiran yang serius. Jadi kami masih butuh waktu untuk mempersiapkannya," ujar Vic Gundorta Senior Vice President of Engineering Google dalam rilisnya.
